Finally, it seems like Tasmania’s rivers, streams and creeks are bouncing back from a very wet spring to reveal some healthy little fish that eat dry flies with gusto. It’s about time, I mean, we are now in summer! Even still, some larger rivers are still in flood from recent rains while others are gin clear – and indication of just how isolated some of our weather patterns have been.
Numbers are still low in some locations but given the inconsistent weather, it’s great just to get out amongst it again and fling a few flies about.
Here’s hoping some warm weather continues, paving the way for some bumper mayfly hatches which have been a bit light on so far and a little difficult to predict.
